Nafra, Arunachal Pradesh, India 21 February 2026: The Arunachal Pradesh Catholic Association (APCA) organized a Multispeciality Health Camp in Nafra, providing essential medical services to nearly 400 patients in a region where access to specialized healthcare remains limited.
The camp was inaugurated by Nichang Jangju, Zilla Parishad Member (ZPM) of Nafra, in the presence of District Medical Officer (DMO) Bichom, Dr. Dilip Khonjuju, and District Agriculture Officer (DAO) Leegang Ania. The officials appreciated APCA’s ongoing contribution to rural healthcare and community welfare.
Medical services offered during the camp included General Medicine, Surgery, Orthopedics, Homeopathy, ENT, Ophthalmology, and Dental care. A total of 15 minor surgical procedures were carried out, including 10 dental extractions.
Patients were provided with free medicines and spectacles. Cataract patients were identified and registered for free surgical treatment under the Government of India’s National Programme for Control of Blindness and Visual Impairment.
APCA’s healthcare initiatives are spearheaded by Dr. Dipu Ann Taw, continuing a legacy of service as the daughter of Taw Tebin, APCA’s longest-serving former president. The outreach forms part of the broader social mission of the Dioceses of Itanagar and Miao in Arunachal Pradesh.
APCA was founded through the vision of former Bishop of Itanagar John Thomas and Bishop P.K. George of Miao, and continues under the pastoral leadership of Bishop Benny Varghese Edathattel. The association remains one of the most active Catholic lay organizations in the region, contributing significantly to social development and public welfare initiatives.
The health camp highlights the growing role of Catholic lay organizations in Northeast India in expanding healthcare access, fostering community empowerment, and working collaboratively with civil authorities for the common good.
