This international initiative is made possible through the partnership of the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation (Catholic Sisters Initiative), the Dicastery for Communication of the Holy See, and CAMECO. The programme is funded with an endowment of USD 100,000 for the current cycle and is administered through the Cardinal Foley Scholarship Fund.

The scholarship specifically aims to empower talented religious sisters serving in communication roles within their congregations. It supports creatives, media coordinators, communication managers, storytellers, and digital influencers among female religious congregations, secular institutes, and societies of apostolic life in the Global South — including Asia, and therefore eligible congregations in Northeast India.

The initiative is aligned with the “Pentecost Project” of the Dicastery for Communication, which seeks to amplify the significant yet often unseen contributions of religious sisters in evangelisation, social outreach, pastoral ministry, and human development through professional communication training.

For the Church in Northeast India — spread across the Archdioceses of Shillong, Imphal, and Guwahati and the twelve dioceses of the region — this opportunity is particularly significant. Strengthening communication capacity among religious sisters will enhance digital evangelisation, promote responsible media engagement, and ensure that the vibrant mission stories of the region reach wider audiences.

NESCOM (Northeast Social Communication Commission) encourages eligible sisters and congregational leadership to prayerfully consider applying for this prestigious programme. Interested applicants are advised to complete the necessary formalities well before the deadline of 27 February 2026.
