During the encounter, children and youth addressed the Holy Father with questions and letters, seeking guidance on preparing to meet Jesus and on supporting one another during difficult moments.
Responding to them, Pope Leo invited the young people to reconcile with friends whenever conflicts arise and to avoid bullying and every form of violence and hatred.
“Everyone can become a builder of peace,” the Pope said, urging them to promote friendship, understanding, and reconciliation in their daily lives.
Addressing children preparing for First Communion, he reminded them that Jesus comes into people’s homes, hearts, and lives, and that believers are called to welcome Him. He encouraged them to speak with Jesus in prayer and to recognise His presence in those who suffer and in acts of charity and friendship.
Later, during the celebration of the Holy Mass, the Holy Father reflected in his homily that many people come to the parish carrying wounds and seeking hope. He urged the parish community to show the closeness of Jesus by welcoming and supporting those who come in need.
Pope Leo XIV visited the Santa Maria della Presentazione parish in the Torrevecchia neighbourhood of Rome on March 8, 2026. The visit was the fourth in his series of Sunday Lenten visits to parishes across the five pastoral regions of the Diocese of Rome.
