NESCOM, Guwahati, February 19, 2026: Thirty Sisters of the Salesian Sisters of Don Bosco (FMA) in Northeast India participated in a one-day media orientation programme on  February 14, 2026, aimed at strengthening their presence in digital evangelisation. The training was held at Auxilium Provincial House in Nongthymmai, Shillong.
The programme, organized for Local Media Coordinators of the Province, focused on visual storytelling and digital communication skills. It was conducted by members of the Province Social Communication Team: Sr. Euginia Laloo, Sr. Jenney Iawphniaw, and Sr. Sandra Mary Diengdoh.
Held under the theme “Towards Reading of Reality through Visuals,” the initiative responded to the XXIII General Chapter’s call for meaningful engagement in the digital communication ecosystem. The programme emphasized that digital communication is not merely a technical instrument, but a mission field — a space where faith, culture, and contemporary life intersect.
The day began with a prayer led by Sr. Stella Mary Pasi. In her opening address, Sr. Euginia Laloo, Coordinator for Social Communication, underlined the importance of understanding today’s communication culture, especially in responding to the expectations of young people.
Quoting the Institute’s Guidelines on the Presence of the FMA in Social Networks, she highlighted the call to create relational spaces where young people are active interlocutors in dialogue and faith-sharing.
The morning session introduced participants to video production techniques and the fundamentals of storytelling through reels and short films. In the afternoon, the Sisters engaged in hands-on training using smartphones for video editing and content creation.
The programme concluded with presentations of short video projects, reflecting both creativity and commitment to the digital apostolate. Several participants expressed readiness to serve as content creators and reporters for the Province’s media mission.
The initiative marks a significant step in strengthening the FMA Province’s engagement with digital culture, reinforcing its commitment to evangelisation in contemporary communication environments.
