Jowai, Meghalaya:
The Diocese of Jowai organised a Convention of Altar Servers, locally known as Shakri Duwan, on May 30 at the Samanlang Pastoral Centre, as part of the celebration of the Year of the Faithful.
Hundreds of altar servers from parishes across the Diocese gathered enthusiastically for the day-long programme aimed at fostering faith, service, and fellowship among young members serving at the altar.
The participants received spiritual inputs and guidance from Father Manbha Pakem, who encouraged the altar servers to deepen their relationship with Christ and carry out their ministry with dedication and reverence.
The convention also included the celebration of the Holy Eucharist at 11:00 a.m., with Father Dominic Kympat as the principal celebrant and Father Manbha Pakem as concelebrant.
In the afternoon, the gathering continued with Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, providing the participants an opportunity for prayer and reflection before the Lord.
The day concluded with cultural and recreational activities presented by the altar servers, creating an atmosphere of joy, friendship, and community spirit.
The Diocese of Jowai, one of the four dioceses in the State of Meghalaya, was erected in 2006 with Most Rev. Vincent Kympat as its first Bishop. The Diocese is currently led by Most Rev. Ferdinand Dkhar, the third Bishop of Jowai.
The convention served as an occasion to strengthen the faith formation of altar servers and to encourage them in their important role within the liturgical life of the Church.
