The Diocese of Miao observed the 60th World Communications Day on 17 May 2026 with an emphasis on evangelisation through modern means of communication, encouraging the faithful, especially young people, to use digital media as instruments of Gospel witness.

As part of the observance, the Holy Father's message for World Communications Day was distributed to all mission centres across the Diocese, inviting the faithful to reflect on the role of communication in proclaiming the Gospel and fostering authentic human relationships.

A special youth-focused homily delivered during the Sunday Eucharistic celebrations highlighted the importance of Christian mission in the digital age.  Young people were encouraged to become active witnesses of Christ by responsibly and creatively using social media, videos, and digital storytelling to share their faith.

To further engage youth participation, the Diocese organised a Reel Making Competition on the themes, “Why I am ChristianandNo One Converted Me.”  The initiative has received enthusiastic responses from young people across the Diocese, who have shared personal testimonies, faith experiences, and reflections on their Christian identity through short videos.

The entries demonstrate creativity, authenticity, and a deep sense of commitment to Christ says the organisers.  The winners of the competition will be announced on the Feast of Corpus Christi.

In addition, a series of social media posts focusing on the missionary mandate of Jesus, particularly His call to “go and make disciples,” were shared across various digital platforms.  These messages reminded the faithful that missionary discipleship extends beyond geographical boundaries and includes witness within the digital environment.

The observance successfully integrated faith and communication, inspiring participants to view modern media not merely as a tool of information but as a platform for evangelisation and Christian witness.

The Diocese of Miao expressed hope that such initiatives would continue to encourage young people to embrace their role as digital missionaries and contribute positively to the Church’s mission in today's interconnected world.
