The Archbishop made the appeal while inaugurating a two-day regional planning meeting titled “Contextualised Implementation of Pastoral Plan 2033 and Digital Evangelisation,” held at the North Eastern Diocesan Social Service Society (NEDSSS) in Kharghuli, Guwahati. The Pastoral Plan 2033 has been developed by the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI) under the theme “Journeying Together Towards Mission 2033 as a Synodal Church.”

The assembly brought together two archbishops, nine bishops, major superiors of religious congregations, NEIRBC commission secretaries, priests, and lay representatives from across the Northeast region.

In his presidential address, Archbishop Moolachira emphasised that the Church must engage actively with the cultural and digital spaces where people live today while remaining firmly rooted in the Gospel. He noted that the Church in Northeast India possesses a rich heritage of faith, culture, and missionary dynamism that can inspire renewed evangelisation in the years leading to 2033.

He also stressed the importance of unity and collaboration among dioceses, religious congregations, and Church institutions. Evangelisation, he said, cannot remain limited to institutional structures but must reach people in their everyday environments, including emerging digital spaces.

As part of the spiritual preparation for Mission 2033, Archbishop Moolachira encouraged Church leaders and the faithful to pray regularly for people of other faith traditions. He invited communities to pray for the well-being, health, and protection of at least twenty individuals whom they personally know but who may not yet know Christ.

The initiative reflects the Northeast Church’s emphasis on prayer, personal witness, and missionary outreach as it prepares for the Jubilee of Redemption in 2033, marking two thousand years of the saving mystery of Christ.
