Guwahati, March 11, 2026: The Northeast Regional Bible Commission launched DigiWord, a digital initiative aimed at sharing the Word of God with people across Northeast India through contemporary communication platforms.
The initiative was launched during the regional Church planning meeting on Mission 2033 held at the North Eastern Diocesan Social Service Society (NEDSSS), Kharghuli, in the presence of archbishops, bishops, priests, religious, and lay representatives from across the region.
Developed under the leadership of the Northeast Regional Bible Commission, Secretary Rev.Dr. Johnson Thurackal CMF the project seeks to use digital platforms such as a dedicated website, YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram to share Scripture reflections, biblical teachings, and faith-based content.
A digital studio established at Claret Villa, Shillong, will serve as the centre for producing multimedia materials. These include daily Scripture reflections, biblical talks, retreats, catechetical resources, and spiritual programmes for youth and families.
Archbishop John Moolachira, President of NEIRBC, formally launched the DigiWord website. Bishop Albert Hemrom of Dibrugarh, Chairman of the Northeast Social Communication Commission, launched the YouTube channel. The Deputy Secretary of NEIRBC Fr. Dr. GP Amalraj launched the Facebook page, while CRI Secretary Sr. Theresa MSMHC launched the Instagram platform associated with the initiative.
The project also seeks to collaborate with dioceses, religious congregations, theologians, and lay contributors in producing content in the many languages spoken across Northeast India.
The initiative further envisions the formation of diocesan media teams and the active participation of young people in producing and sharing digital faith content.
Church leaders noted that digital evangelisation is becoming an important dimension of pastoral ministry as more people engage with media and communication platforms in their daily lives.
By making Scripture accessible through digital media, the DigiWord initiative aims to bring the Word of God to homes, communities, and young people throughout Northeast India. The project is guided by the Northeast Regional Bible Commission under the leadership of its Chairman, Bishop Andrew Marak of Tura.
