Guwahati, February 27, 2026: The Northeast Diocesan Youth Directors’ Meet 2026 was held in Imphal from February 25 to 27, bringing together Diocesan Youth Directors (DYDs) and Diocesan Youth Lady Animators (DYLAs) under the aegis of the North Eastern Regional Youth Commission (NERYC). The three-day gathering focused on prayer, leadership formation, and coordinated pastoral planning for youth ministry across the region.
The meeting commenced with the Holy Eucharist celebrated by Most Rev. Dr. Linus Neli, Chairman of NERYC. In his homily, he encouraged youth leaders to accompany young people with pastoral commitment, guiding them through faith-centered leadership and missionary responsibility.
On February 26, Bishop Neli animated a session on “Development of Leadership among the Youths,” highlighting the importance of forming young leaders grounded in Gospel values. He emphasized capacity-building, spiritual formation, and responsible engagement with contemporary social realities.
The annual planning session of NERY-ICYM NE and YCS/YSM NE followed, led by Fr. Cletus Sebastian SDB, Regional Youth Director, and Sr. Wansuk, Regional Youth Lady Animator. Participants reviewed ongoing initiatives and outlined regional programs, leadership training modules, and collaborative strategies for the coming year. Diocesan representatives shared pastoral experiences, challenges, and emerging opportunities within their respective dioceses, fostering a shared vision for coordinated action.
A significant moment of the meet was the visit to churches damaged during recent tensions in Manipur. The directors gathered in prayer and solidarity with affected communities, reaffirming their commitment to promoting reconciliation, peace-building, and youth engagement in healing processes.
The meeting concluded on February 27 with the Holy Mass celebrated by Fr. John, Director of the Retreat House. Participants were encouraged to return to their dioceses strengthened in faith and united in mission.
The regional gathering served as a structured platform for collaboration, renewal, and strategic planning in youth ministry across Northeast India. The organizers expressed appreciation to Rev. Fr. Jacob Darsongam, DYD, and the MCYO team for hosting and coordinating the programme.
