Guwahati, April 1, 2026: The Northeast India Regional Youth Commission (NERYC) of the Northeast India Regional Bishops’ Council (NEIRBC) hosted a farewell lunch in honour of Rev. Sr. Mary Wansuk Lyngdoh, MSMHC, as she completed her term as Regional Youth Lady Animator (RYLA) on April 1, 2026.
Sr. Wansuk, a native of the Diocese of Nongstoin in Meghalaya and a member of the Missionary Sisters of Mary Help of Christians (MSMHC), served the Commission for three years. During her tenure, she held responsibilities as Regional Youth Lady Animator of ICYM North East and Coordinator of YCS/YSM. She is the tenth Coordinator of NERYC since its inception, continuing the longstanding contribution of MSMHC sisters, who have consistently served the Commission in this role, including two terms as Secretaries.
The brief but meaningful gathering was graced by Archbishop John Moolachira of Guwahati, President of NEIRBC, who appreciated Sr. Wansuk’s dedicated service and her significant contribution to youth ministry in the region.
Also present was Rev. Fr. John Barman MSFS, former Secretary of the Youth Commission and currently Associate Secretary at CCBI, who acknowledged the collaborative spirit and achievements accomplished during their time working together. He commended Sr. Wansuk’s commitment and her role in strengthening youth engagement across Northeast India.
The programme was led by the present Secretary of the Commission, Rev. Fr. Cletus Sebastian SDB. Rev. Fr. John Paul of the Archdiocese of Guwahati, President of the NERYC Society, was also in attendance.
In her message, Sr. Wansuk expressed heartfelt gratitude to Archbishop John Moolachira, President of NEIRBC, and Archbishop Dr. Linus Neli of Imphal, Chairman of NERYC, for their guidance and support. She also thanked all collaborators for their encouragement and shared mission in nurturing young people in the Church.
The farewell gathering concluded on a warm and emotional note with a musical tribute presented by the present Regional Youth Lady Animator, along with Regional Youth President Mr. Jonah Chithung. Their rendition of “Slipping Through My Fingers” and “May the Good Lord Bless and Keep You” added a reflective and prayerful dimension to the occasion.
The event marked not only the conclusion of a significant chapter in Sr. Wansuk’s ministry but also a moment of gratitude for her faithful service to the youth of Northeast India.
