Pope Leo XIV will lead a worldwide Rosary for Peace on Saturday, May 30, at the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes in the Vatican Gardens, inviting Catholics across the world to unite in prayer for peace, healing, and reconciliation.
The Rosary, to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Vatican time (10:30 p.m. Indian Standard Time), marks the conclusion of the Marian month of May and will be personally presided over by the Holy Father as part of his repeated appeals for peace amid ongoing conflicts and violence across the world.
Pope Leo XIV will pray the Joyful Mysteries of the Holy Rosary, dedicating each decade to people affected by war and violence, entrusting them to the intercession of Mary, Queen of Peace.
The first mystery will be offered for victims of war, especially the vulnerable; the second for those who bring hope and spiritual consolation to affected populations; and the third for medical personnel, humanitarian workers, and volunteers serving people in conflict zones.
The fourth mystery will pray for prisoners and all those enduring suffering, humiliation, and violence that violate human dignity, while the fifth and final Joyful Mystery will be dedicated to praying for an end to war and the establishment of lasting peace in the world.
Pilgrims and faithful in Rome will also be able to participate in the prayer through large screens installed in St. Peter’s Square.
Several major shrines from across the world have confirmed their participation, including the Shrine of the Mother of God in Zarvanytsia, Ukraine; the International Shrine of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage in Antipolo, Philippines; the Shrine of Our Lady of the Rosary in Fatima, Portugal; the Shrine of Our Lady Queen of Peace in Medjugorje, Bosnia and Herzegovina; the Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes in France; the Shrine of Saint Charbel Annaya in Lebanon; and the Pontifical Shrine of the Holy House of Loreto in Italy.
In Northeast India, the Archdiocese of Imphal has already called upon the faithful to intensify prayer for peace through the observance of the “All Manipur Rosary Prayer Day” on May 31, 2026. In a pastoral message issued earlier, Archbishop Dr. Linus Neli invited the faithful across Manipur to gather as “one family of faith” and pray for peace, healing, and harmony amid the prevailing social challenges in the State.
Other dioceses across Northeast India are also expected to join the Holy Father’s prayer initiative, encouraging clergy, religious, and lay faithful to participate through parishes, institutions, religious houses, and family prayer.
The Rosary for Peace initiative is promoted by the Dicastery for Evangelization through its Section for Fundamental Questions regarding Evangelization in the World.
The faithful across the Northeast are invited to join the Rosary at 10:30 p.m. IST, spiritually uniting with Pope Leo XIV and the universal Church in praying for peace, reconciliation, and healing in a world wounded by violence and conflict.
