More than 60 young people from Our Lady of Rosary Parish, Jampujala, and neighbouring mission centres of the Diocese of Agartala participated in a two-day convention on digital evangelisation and media skills held on June 6–7 in Tripura, Northeast India.

The programme concluded with the formation of the parish’s first Youth Media Team to support faith-based communication and evangelisation through digital platforms.

Organised by the Commission for Social Communication of the Diocese of Agartala in collaboration with Our Lady of Rosary Parish, the convention aimed to equip young Catholics with media skills for evangelisation. The programme was guided by the theme, “You are the light of the world” (Mt 5:14), and encouraged participants to use digital platforms to share the Gospel and promote faith-based communication.

Father Bala Showry, Assistant Secretary of the Commission for Social Communication, served as the resource person for the convention.  The programme was conducted under the guidance of parish priest Father Babu Paul and Assistant parish priest Father Vysak.

The programme opened with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist.  In his inaugural address, Father Showry encouraged participants to become missionary disciples in the digital world, drawing inspiration from the teachings of Pope Francis and Pope Leo XIV on evangelisation in contemporary culture.

The two-day programme focused on practical media formation.  Participants received training in mobile videography, short-form video production, graphic design using Canva, and the creation of faith-based digital content for social media platforms.

Working in small groups, the youth created short videos, designed promotional materials, and developed social media content plans for parish outreach.  The exercises combined technical skills with the Church’s missionary vision for digital communication.

The convention concluded with the commissioning of 15 young people as the founding members of the Our Lady of Rosary Parish Youth Media Team.  The new team will support parish communication initiatives, including livestreaming and faith-based content creation, while receiving ongoing formation and mentorship from the diocesan Commission for Social Communication.
